Is Your Home Ready To Fight Coronavirus?
With news about the deadly 2019 novel coronavirus (or 2019-nCoV) that appeared in Wuhan, China in December, becoming more and more serious with every passing day of the New Year, it is time to take a second to think about the quality of cleanliness in our homes and offices.
What is Coronavirus (CoV)?
CoV is a large family of viruses that have caused illnesses such as common cold, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV), and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). However, the current deadly disease has been identified as the novel CoV because this set of viruses have not previously been identified in humans.
The transmission of the virus between not just animals but also amongst humans has caused widespread concern in managing and containing the disease. The CoV symptoms can be easy to miss as they typically mimic the common flu. However, common signs to watch out for include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, the infection can lead to pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and even death.
CoV: A global concern
In a short period, the CoV has become a global issue, with the World Health Organization declaring this as a global health emergency on 31 January 2020. In an attempt to fight the outbreak and prevent the spread of CoV further, the international community has launched a US$675 million preparedness and response plan to support countries that lack the resources for early detection and treatment of CoV.
As of 7 February 2020, the number of infections detected globally has reached 31,400 across 25 countries. The death count is now at 630, with a large majority having occurred in China.
How can I protect myself?
It’s all about hygiene when taking preventive measures against the coronavirus. Ensuring that your indoor spaces are disinfected is important, but it is even more important to do so effectively. Moltocare’s cleaning and disinfection services use products that are EPA-registered and the use of which protects against not only the more daunting Human Coronavirus but also Influenza Virus Type A, 2013 Influenza A Virus (H7N9), Respiratory Syncytial Virus, and SARS Associated Coronavirus.
Although there is still some degree of uncertainty surrounding the virus, we also recommend the following:
- Ensure that your kitchen counters, tabletops, bedside tables, doorknobs, toilets, and bathroom fixtures are cleaned daily in your homes
- Disinfect your electronic devices (phones and tablets) frequently as they are crawling with bacteria because of how often we use them
- Clean surfaces that may be in contact with body fluids and/or secretions – again daily
- Hand hygiene is extremely important so be sure to wash your hands well (at least 20 seconds)
The bottom line is that we are dealing with an unknown disease and still discovering possible treatment options. What we do know is that a little caution can go a long way and cleaning and disinfecting your homes with trusted professionals is the first step towards healthier and cleaner living environments.
Even though things are getting better now, Dubai is not in complete lockdown. Places are opening up slowly and gradually maintaining all safety precautions. People are going out to malls and various other places. Just sanitizing your hands, wearing a mask, or staying six feet apart might not be enough. Public places have Air Conditioners which might not have been sanitized. It is paramount to not just clean the air conditioner but also sanitize it. Due to the lockdown, the Air conditioners not being functional for so long could have gathered some amount of dust. The pollutants like germs, bacteria, fungi, mold might have accumulated in the Air Conditioner ducts making the AC not work to its potential. Not just the efficiency of the Air Conditioner might be hampered but also the air quality will get affected.
Unhygienic AC ducts can cause various respiratory diseases. We might not even realize that we are not taking proper care when it comes to Covid. Just by constantly cleaning your hands you might not pay attention to your surroundings that also need to be clean and sanitized regularly. Your Air Conditioner can accumulate various micro-organisms that are not visible to the naked eye. The AC duct becomes a breeding ground for these micro-organisms. AC ducts need to be taken care of and cannot but cleaned by anyone. Only a professional with great experience can clean them. Moltocare follows all precautions when it comes to your safety. Our skilled professionals clean each corner of your AC leaving no bacteria in your home. With the AC duct cleaning service, you can constantly breathe pure and fresh air and not worry about and viruses!
To support the community, we would like to offer a special 15% discount on our services for February. Since the spread of Coronavirus is primarily airborne, we would highly recommend a deep cleaning of your AC ducts with our team.
